Shed Music

Welcome to the shed! Here's some information about us. Let us know if you like us!

Simon - Bass and Vocals

I've been in four bands when I first learned to play bass back in the early 90's. Early influences were Pixies, The Police, and anything indie from then, especially the bass sound from The Field Mice,

Since returning to music with Endymion mk 2 and Shed Music, my influences are The Beatles, The Smiths and Belle and Sebastian, and anyone with interesting chord changes and rhythms that still manage to stay poppy.

I love melodic bass lines, I'm not fond of anything too jazzy, or slappy, and spent my formative years trying to play along to Atlantic soul classics like Respect by Aretha Franklin.

Shed Music gives me a great opportunity to be creative in the way that only music provides. I'm really looking forward to recording and performing. I think we're all far too old to be looking for fame and fortune, speaking personally, I'd just like to be able to keep playing, keep improving and keep writing interesting songs.

Chris - Drums and Vocals

Music defines many people and I'm pleased to be counted in their number. Building up an eclectic record collection and seeing bands regularly has given me enormous pleasure since the age of 13 (I'm now 48) and this joy has been increased in recent months as a result of it also becoming the main passion in my 15 year old daughter's life.

From the outset my main influences were Hendrix, Deep Purple, Free, Led Zeppelin and the Stones, but my record collection and taste is much wider these days and includes the odd bit of jazz and classical as well as bands such as Massive Attack, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, the Chemical Brothers and Kasabian, and singer songwriters such as Janis Ian & Paul Weller.

Getting back into playing drums and percussion again is a real buzz and I can hardly wait until we get into the studio to produce a demo to help set up some gigs in the spring. Since my teenage years growing up in South London, live music has always been my favourite pastime and I'm pleased that the recent increase in local venues has led to a mini local renaissance and I hope that Shed Music will be able to make a small contribution to this along the way.

Steve - Guitar and Vocals

Like the others in the band, my tastes in music are extremely varied, from Vivaldi to The Verve, from Hendrix to Hawkwind, from worship music to wailing guitars. As a guitarist myself, my main influences are The Edge and Neil Young.

Having dabbled in amateur groups of musicians off and on for most of my adult life, I'm enjoying the challenges of playing in a regular band at last and both writing and helping arrange songs.

As Chris said, the recent local revival in interest in live music has been excellent to see and will hopefully give Shed Music a platform to share its songs and stories.

Roger - Keyboard

I'm in my early forties. I've an eclectic music taste, influenced by early interests in classical music as well as more recent mainstream rock and jazz. I'm open to ideas and enjoy discovering what the keyboard can do for me and Shed Music. It's a bit of an adventure as my musical taste and collection grows.

If you asked me my favourite musicians, I have to say Paul Weller and David Bowie, but that's amongst many. If you wanted to know what I like and listen to above anything else, I'd say J. S. Bach - I've my Dad to thank for that!!
